PEARLAND — A man suspected in a bank robbery that occurred last week remained in the Brazoria County jail Wednesday on a $100,000 bond for a robbery charge, but also was being held without a bond for an alleged parole violation.
Danny Alfred King, 37, of Houston turned himself in to police Saturday, Pearland Police Sgt. Roy Castillo said.
“Someone e-mailed one of our officers saying, ‘Hey, I think I know who this is,’ so that officer forwarded that e-mail to Detective Jon Matherne,” Castillo said. The man was identified through a photo lineup, enabling police to secure a warrant, he said.
King is accused of robbing a Woodforest Bank inside a Wal-Mart in the 1700 block of East Broadway on Feb. 28, according to a prepared statement from police. King allegedly threatened and ordered the teller to give him money, but no gun was seen, the report stated.
Police still were withholding the amount of money taken, Castillo said.
King was sentenced to eight years in prison in July 2005 after being convicted of two counts of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit theft in Harris County, said Michelle Lyons, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
