Pearland robberies might be connected

PEARLAND — The description of the man who robbed a Pearland pharmacy early Friday morning closely matches that of the culprit in another robbery Thursday afternoon, Pearland police said.
A man dressed in a gray hooded shirt walked into the pharmacy in the 2900 block of Broadway at about 5 a.m. Friday, pointed a chrome-colored gun at the clerk and demanded money, said Pearland Detective Jon Matherne.
“He brandished a gun at the clerk,” he said. Once the man was given the money, he left through the front door, Matherne said.
The man was wearing a hood over his head and had a handkerchief over his face, Matherne said. The robber was a white male, 25 to 35 years old, 6 feet tall with a slender build, he said.
Images of the robber were captured on a security camera, but they did not reveal much about his identity, said Matherne.
The description of the pharmacy robber closely matches the description of a man accused of taking money from a grocery store in the 8300 block of East Broadway at about 4 p.m. Thursday, according to a press release issued by Pearland police.
“The suspect approached a teller at the customer service booth and handed a note that ordered them to give him the money,” the release states. “The teller stated they never saw the suspect produce a weapon.”
The culprit in that robbery is described as a white male with brown hair, 25 to 30 years old, from 6 feet to 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing 150 to 165 pounds.
He was wearing a blue shirt and left through the front door, according to the release.
Detectives have eyewitness leads in the case but would not release further information, citing the ongoing investigation.
“They could be related,” Matherne said. “We don’t know. You have the same height and build, and the same age.”
