LAKE JACKSON — The PETCO and the PETCO Foundation recently concluded the annual Spring-A-Pet fundraiser, raising almost $1.7 million to benefit animal organizations nationwide, including the Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals of Brazoria County.
“We are so proud to distribute monies collected each year from our Spring-A-Pet campaign to organizations like the SPCA of Brazoria County that dedicate their resources to helping animals,” PETCO Foundation Vice President and Director Paul Jolly said. “During the fundraiser, each PETCO store selected an adoption group that celebrates the human-animal bond and collected donations on their behalf.”
This year, SPCA of Brazoria County partnered with the PETCO store in Lake Jackson.
Local proceeds from Spring-A-Pet 2007 will be used by the SPCA of Brazoria County to support its low-cost spay/neuter program, to encourage and promote responsible pet ownership and to protect animals from cruelty and neglect.
“The support of organizations like the PETCO Foundation are critical in combating the pet overpopulation problem. We could not do it without their support,” said Christian Ramsey, executive director of SPCA Brazoria County.
