MANVEL — Brazoria County Precinct 4 Commissioner Mary Ruth Rhodenbaugh completed a campaign promise about six months ago by opening a county office on the north end of the precinct.
“We are making good on a pledge we made during the campaign,” Rhodenbaugh said.
Rhodenbaugh said the Manvel office at 7313 Corporate Drive gives people living in the northern part of the precinct an easier opportunity to talk with their commissioner.
“We just wanted to make it more convenient,” she said. “For those that live in Alvin and Manvel, it can be quite a drive to the Brazoria office, where I am located.”
About 40 people attended the ribbon-cutting, which served a dual purpose, said Cheryl Kepp, vice president of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce.
“It was just a great opening,” Kepp said. “It was more of a celebration of her taking office.”
Rhodenbaugh will be in the new office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Thursday to listen to the public’s issues.
“Any concern that any person has with any county function, we will be here to listen,” she said.
